Marco Di Lucca is a contemporary sculptor born in Italy in 1973. His early interest and passion in computer graphic led him to move around the globe and become a visual effect artist. With over 20 years of experience in the field of visual effects for the movies and tech industries, he had the chance to work for the most prestigious companies like Weta Digital, Digital Domain,Industrial Light&Magic, Apple, Nvidia, where he helped, with his talent and passion for the human forms, to bring to life numerous characters/creatures and digital humans.
Since 2014 he felt that only working in digital was not fulfilling enough his creating streak and so he decided to turn to a medium that would be perfect for the sculptural subjects: marble.
He traditionally trained carving in Carrara and Pietrasanta, Italy and currently resides in Boulder county, Colorado. A common theme you will see throughout his work is his interest towards realism and thefascination with the human body and face.
Awkward kiss is an example of the aforementioned interest into the human face and how we express feelings through it, the sometimes uncomfortable feeling of a first kiss or an unexpected one.
