“Sea Storm”, is part of a series called “Weatherscapes”, which depict works that show the natural elements: rain, snow, tornados, fog and storms. Displayed in a dimly lit room, the objective of this body of work is to create movement without the use of digital imagery, but instead by using layers of paper, motors and individually hand soldered and programmed lights to present ethereal landscapes.
Colorado natives Susanna Richter-Helman and Mark Helman began collaborating on the first series of lightboxes in 2008 when living in by the ocean in Saint Augustine, Florida. These works have been exhibited at the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, Sea Fair, Miami, Art Santa Fe and the William Havu Gallery among others.
