My name is Kevin Hoth and I'm an artist and educator living in El Dorado Springs, Colorado. My piece is called "Gold Hope" and it is a pigment print on metallic paper. It's a remix of sorts of an older instant film collage called Hope for the Future. The original piece was made from two photographs of the sky which I immediately cut with scissors while the images were still developing.
The reason I have done this a lot in my work is to signify a rupture in time, a mark like a scar that embodies how something creative can come from something that feels destructive.
