Hi, my name is Stan Meyer. I'm going to start off with a poem I wrote describing this piece of art. It is titled, "Structure of Light".
Structure of light bouncing from one diamond to another, settling inward and translucent. Art for me is a belief made visible. The fact that something is handmade gives an aura of the human who made it and that it resonates with the viewer.
I want my work to provide a meaning to life. I believe that poetic is a legitimate concern in the contemporary world. I demonstrate the possibilities of belief and transcendence.
I received a degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin Stout in 1973, and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1975. I taught at Renly College in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver and in Colorado, also the ArtReach program.
Thank you very much for viewing my work. I do use rice paper and basswood. The colors they project gives an uplifting feeling of a kite or an atmosphere. And there you go. Thank you again.
