I am basically a sculptor and made a nice living in the 80s and 90s doing a parody on Wesstern art. I was lucky to show with a lot of the really great Indian artists of the time. The Southwestern art movement was a big deal. In 2009 I decided to try doing a little painting. I had never done much painting and did not have any training. I painted a series of neon signs from up and down West Colfax and showed them in the City of Lakewood's gallery. The show was quite successful. I didn't paint much again until 2016 when I did another set of paintings -- same thing, photo realism - these were smaller canvases. They were also exhibited at the City of Lakewood. These were basically paintings of buildings, nothing fancy, just buildings up and down West Colfax in Lakewood. That's kinda where I ended up with this piece that will be shown at the Arvada Center. It's a moody street scene which, like I said, is what I like to do. Nothing fancy, photo realism, and somewhat moody. I hope people enjoy it. Thanx, Al
