My name is Eileen Roscina and the title of this work "Iris" is not only a reference to some of the flowers that I used in previous sculpture but is reminiscent of the iris of an eye. The gradient of color progressing inward to the black center of the pupil. You see these flowers frozen in time, their decay halted by a resin enclosure. Perception in how we see the natural world are common themes in my work. My art practice includes flow and hidden process, like growing flowers from seed, caring for, harvesting, and pressing them for nine months of the year or as the season allows. I collaborate with and am guided by natural processes and I'm excited by the limitations that these cycles impose.
