This piece was created in my Boulder, Colorado studio. I titled the painting “TOGETHERNESS” because I wanted to capture the intense movement and fluid chaotic connectivity of everyday life. I poured black acrylic paint directly on the canvas and smeared it from side to side with my favorite painting tool, the sgueegee. This created an organic effect that stained the canvas something just like what the artist Helen Frankenthaler used to experiment with. There are many layers to this painting where I tried very carefully not to suffocate the original strokes with heavy textures. I wanted the viewer to feel an emotional softness, blending these bold colors of white and black together in order to find inner peace.
The painting “Togetherness” is a road map to reflect and explore our unique paths in life so that we can find the light within each one of us.
