the capacity of illumination is from alpert+kahn’s series rapt. Renee Alpert and Douglas Kahn’s images from this series begin with photographs of construction fabric. Then these images are altered though the use of multiple color fields. This image represents a transformation from alpert+kahn’s previous work as the metrics inherent in the process allow them to explore the perception of light on a given surface and the perception of light emitting from a surface.
