Momentary Blush

I captured this image at the Venice Beach Pier on Halloween night 2022. Like so many nights that I spend on the beach, you just never know if all of the elements for a dramatic sunset will come together. On this evening just before sunset, the sky was virtually colorless because it had been pretty cloudy all afternoon. The sun set, producing nothing but gray clouds. I waited and waited, still nothing. I was a few seconds from packing up my gear when the clouds suddenly started to turn pink. Within a few minutes the clouds were awash in color and everyone on the pier was buzzing. Then just as quickly as the show started, it came to an end even faster.
