This photo is from the North Shore of Oahu in February of 2024. A solid northwest swell had just about every break on the North Shore pumping for days. I was photographing the surfers at Pipeline, but the break down the beach, Rock Piles, kept catching my eye. Every time a big wave broke, the whitewater exploded on the shallow reef. To get this shot, I kneeled down really low on the beach to get as close to water level as possible, then patiently waited for a surfer to be in the perfect spot.
