The primordial landscape of Monument Valley seemed to be the perfect location to create a black & white image. Black & white photography has always been appealing to me. I think in large part because I grow up with Ansel Adams coffee table books. For me, when the subject matter and composition are so compelling, color can be a distraction. But a black & white print distills the photograph down to its powerful essence. I frequently look for opportunities to create photographs as the preeminent landscape photographers once did. Of course, finding the right opportunities is easier said than done.
