Artist Bio:
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Collin Parson is an arts administrator, artist, curator, and designer. His creative work involves the control of light and color to create vivid geometric light and space works.
Notes on Process:
In 2022, Collin Parson, represented in Denver by Michael Warren Gallery, was introduced to the world of fine print at OG. Using two of his recent series as a springboard, he and Sue Oehme created a series of 10 small black and white prints titled Interference, as well as a group of four editions titled Ellipse, based on his large-scale back-lit wall sculptures. These are a mix of techniques, utilizing classic copper plate aquatints, inked with blended a la poupeé colors, along with laser cut stencils carefully registered and printed simultaneously to create the dense rich black oval shapes.
Artist Statement:
As an artist myself and the Director of Galleries and one of the curators for the Arvada Center, I’ve never included my creative artwork to be included in our exhibitions. After spending a week at Oehme Graphics a couple of years ago to create my art prints, the idea to feature the process behind Master Printer Sue Oehme and how she interprets artists' vision onto print as an exhibition struck me. I asked Sue Oehme for a list of artists she’d like to include in this exhibition she added my name. After some back and forth, I relented as she was proud of the prints we achieved and thought the process behind them is important to share.
