Artist Bio:
Ken Buhler’s paintings, drawings, and prints blend abstraction and recognizable imagery—often drawn from botanical or decorative forms—to explore the “terra incognita” of the natural world. He lives and works in Brooklyn and in Masonville, NY.
Notes on Process:
In 2011, NYC painter, Ken Buhler came to Oehme Graphics and brought his world’s-largest collection of rubber stamps, some hand designed, with the intention to incorporate his favorite stamps in his works, as he often did with his paintings. These resulting 6 prints in his portfolio, titled Notes from the Edge of the World, were all conceived as visual “letters” to his late wife. Even the design of the portfolio case included a tiny editioned print in the upper right corner to mimic a stamp on an envelope.
The prints were all made from a collection of 26 etched plates which were inked in different colors and printed in layers.
