Artist Bio:
Deborah Freedman is a painter and printmaker whose work is deeply informed by nature. She lives and works on Long Island and is the co-owner of VanDeb Editions, a print studio and publisher.
Notes on Process:
After seeing a series of beautiful ink drawings of the stark, de-leafed trees on her property by Deborah Freedman, Sue Oehme suggested translating some of the images onto solar plates to make small editions. Once those editions were all printed, Deborah returned to OG and reused the plates, printing them this time in color combined with lovely ethereal watercolor washed backgrounds. This process renders all the variation in tonality of an ink wash painting.
Deborah and Sue have worked on more than six print projects, and often exhibit together in NYC at the annual Print Fair.
