Artist Bio:
Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Nancy Friese is a painter, printmaker, and professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. She makes stunningly colorful and expressionistic plein air landscape paintings.
Notes on Process:
Partly due to Covid concerns, Nancy Friese and Sue Oehme have been working long-distance on her most recent editions published at OG. This involved carefully packing the coated copper plates in a custom box and shipping back and forth every time the plates were proofed and /or needed more etching. In the end, after about a year, Nancy approved the final color proofs and the editioning began. Sue decided to try a variation on Chinese paper, with just the “key” plates wiped in Sepia ink, which you see here. (See video)
