Collins Hall is named in honor of legendary CC Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager Theodore Roosevelt "Rosie" Collins (1935-1970). A pioneer in the field of sports medicine, Collins was also the first Black CC staff member, fighting segregation as the team traveled throughout the West. Collins served as a mentor both on and off the field. He and his family took in several CC athletes as boarders, helped them find part-time jobs, and worked to secure partial scholarships. Collins was one of the founders of the National Athletic Trainers Association and a renowned physical therapist. He even treated the sore neck of then vice-presidential candidate Richard Nixon in 1952.
