Henderson Post Office

The Henderson Post Office exhibit is a great place to learn about the history of mail during the oil boom. Inside, you will find a wall of post office boxes and a window counter used in Henderson then.

One thing to notice about the PO boxes is that the dials have letters instead of numbers. This is because it allowed for more options, as there are 26 letters in the alphabet instead of just 0-9 numbers.

Inside the exhibit, you can also learn about Mrs. Annie D. Barker, the first woman postmaster of Kilgore. Next to the post office clerk window, there is a photo of her and her team of clerks, carriers, and rural carriers.

Now head to the peddler's wagon just outside the Boomtown Theater, and click "Next".
