1930 Truck and People of East Texas Wall

The pick-up truck on display is a 1930 Model AA 2 1/2 ton Ford Truck. It was introduced in 1925 as a steel-bodied, half-ton truck with an adjustable tailgate and heavy-duty rear springs. In 1928, it was replaced by the Model AA, which had a closed-cab, safety-glass windshield, roll-up windows, and a three-speed transmission. The truck was donated to the museum in 1980 by Mr. Gore Kemp of Kilgore.

The display on the large wall with musical instruments shows what people were doing in 1930, including a photograph of President Herbert Hoover and images of living conditions in East Texas, the local jail, and events like oil rig work and social functions. There is also a small glass case with memorabilia about Western Union messengers and their oath of safety.
