Continuing on Santo Domingo Street, you will pass the Depot Headquarters, known as Barrow Hall, and Headquarters and Service Battalion, home to unaccompanied enlisted personnel. Both buildings were constructed as part of the mobilization efforts for World War II as the Marine Corps anticipated the need to increase its capacity for new recruits. Originally known as simply the Depot Headquarters, it was designated as Barrow Hall in honor of General Robert Barrow, former commanding officer of Parris Island and Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1979 to 1983. General Barrow was a highly decorated Marine and served as the first Commandant with a full position on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Drive straight on Santo Domingo Street.
