Sally Elliott: Huevos de Emú/Huevos de Galinas

In this series of paintings I have chosen eggs as my subject matter. The egg has always held particular significance partly because it is a visual shorthand for a new life and unhatched  potential. The egg bring hope and purity. It is a symbol of fertility and the circle of life. In some Asian cultures the egg is seen as a symbol of luck and wealth. In my series of egg paintings I have chosen chicken, emu, ostrich and turkey eggs which are coming from an  open heart and bordered with feathers, flowers, and shells.
