17 - Foxes Brewing Coffee

The older Pennsylvania Germans in the Kempton area referred to mists rising from the Blue Mountains as "foxes brewing coffee." I was fascinated by that folkloric tradition that was carried over from the Palatinate region of Germany. That phrase is still in use today. I've painted at least 6 versions of this scene near Hamm's Hill just below Hawk Mountain.
