Dale Estate, located at 112 South Main Street
William Dale, a railroad overseer, purchased this land from Bel-Del Railroad in 1861. The original estate to the rear, overlooked the railroad turntable so that Dale could keep an eye on his workers and trains as they ran the turntable operations of the railroad. Today, the turntable area is the boarding area for the railroad excursion that runs year-round family entertainment hosting Thomas the Train, Polar Express, the wine train and more, bringing over 120,000 people to Phillipsburg.
There is a garage in the rear of the property at the site of the old estate located at the end of Elizabeth St. 112 South Main St residence has three floors, and 18 rooms. The first floor was used as a lawyer's office for many years after it was the home and dental office of Dr. Harry Souders and their son for 70 years.
