10 - Ice Flow

On several occasions during wintertime the Ontelaunee stream freezes long enough to develop thick ice. After a period of warming and intense rain, large chunks of ice crack and float downstream. The process reminds me of a parade. I sketched a series of jumbled ice chunks at different locations, developed a composition, and finally transfered the image to a freshly prepared wood panel. From there I painted the egg tempera on display.
