1 - Big Splinter

The Lutz Brothers, who live down the road from my studio, made short work of an old hickory tree. They had cut and removed most of the firewood, save this big splinter of the main tree trunk. I stylized the scene into a winter landscape. All the subject matter is actually there – including the 18th Century stone tannery adorned with the stars and stripes.
