The Four Seasons Garden is designed to feature plants with some desirable characteristic in one of the four seasons, with colorful fall leaf changes, bright plant branches, and an evergreen presence. What season is it right now? Can you think of some plants you might expect to be in bloom?
Notice the vine climbing up toward the sky. What is it reaching for?
The sun.
Plants photosynthesize, but not necessarily in all four seasons. Photosynthesis is a process in which plants take sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide and make energy from them. In order to do this they must have leaves, so although evergreens photosynthesize in the winter, deciduous trees (ones that lose their leaves) do not.
