Circa 1960, Wood carving seasoned fir
Free-spirited AI E. Sybrian (1924-2007) was a popular member of the local art scene that flourished in the 50s and 60s. A native of Oakland, Al served in WWII and later attended USF and the SF School of Fine Arts. Eclectic in creativity and meticulous in detail, the bronze sea lion on the waterfront is his most familiar work. Lesser heralded are his talents working in wood and stone. Many of the dry, natural rock walls seen around town are his handiwork.
