Former Rossford Polish Club
We have two more historic sites to visit downtown, and both are located on one-way streets off Dixie Highway.
For this next stop, use your GPS to find 123 Bergin Street.
You’re looking at the former Rossford Polish Club.
Its original name was Polski Dom Handlowy, which means Polish Trading House. But around Rossford, people simply knew it as the Polish Club.
The building was created as a gathering place for Rossford’s Polish community—a place to meet, shop and celebrate.
In its early days, the lower right side of the building served as the club headquarters, while the lower left housed a dry-goods store.
But upstairs was where the celebrations happened.
There was a large dance hall with 14-foot tin ceilings.
Over the years, hundreds of Polish weddings were celebrated here, filling the building with music, laughter, and tradition.
In the early 2000s, the building was renovated into five apartments.
Its purpose has changed, but the building still carries the echoes of the Polish community that once gathered here.
