Lincoln, Douglas, and Grant Halls (707 S Morgan St)

One of the newest renovations of campus is evident in the Grant, Lincoln, and Douglas Halls also known as the GLD cluster

The buildings are named Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas, two political leaders from Illinois and Grant Hall bears the name of Civil War General and U.S. President and Illinois resident, Ulysses S. Grant.

These buildings demonstrate UIC's commitment to sustainability with eco-friendly features like geothermal heating, solar power, and the use of recycled building materials.

Fun fact, I learned in my urban sustainability class that these buildings are actually heated using geothermal energy! Talk about sustainability! I have actually had a Spanish class in Lincoln Hall. It is a little weird being surrounded by glass windows and it kind of feels like you are learning in a fish bowl. However, the shades surrounding the class do come down which helps protect against the glare of the sun and block out any outside distractions.

This building is home to the Sandi Port Language and Cultural Center and the UIC Writing Center. The Writing Center serves as an academic support hub for written assignments and the Sandi Port Language Center serves as a resource for learning and appreciating world languages

At UIC, we are committed to helping students academically and have support offices to make sure they unlock their academic potential.
