As we move along to the heart of the East Campus, welcome to the Architecture and Design Studios!
Built in 1967 during the second phase of campus construction. This was Netsch’s first attempt at Field Theory as we mentioned earlier in the tour. You may notice that it may look unfinished. In fact, only ⅓ of the building is complete, so some of the classroom wings were never added and there are staircases that lead to nowhere.
This building is home to one of 16 UIC colleges: the College of Architecture, Design and the Arts which offers programs for emerging artists and designers.
There are 3 main rooms within the building that are used as gallery spaces for events and lectures. If you love anything artistic, this is your building!
While I’m personally not artistic, I have been able to enjoy some of what CADA has to offer through my friends. During the end of the semester, students’ hold presentations on projects they’ve been working on. If you want, definitely check out those presentations to see something new each time!
