My name is AB and I use she/her/hers pronouns. I am excited to be one of your tour guides today!
The Student Services Building (also known as SSB) is considered the one stop shop for student services and the Visitors Center is our main hub and welcoming center for guests. Please stop in when we're open!
SSB was created in 1994 as a renovation of the Circle Court shopping mall. It became a national model for its groundbreaking idea to center student services within one building.
There are many different support services housed within this building and we would like to highlight a few.
On the main floor near the information desk, we have the Office of Admissions. Here, our admissions team reviews applications, receives documents, and you can make appointments or attend events year round.
Down the hall from the Office of Admissions is the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar is responsible for registration, transcripts, records, medical immunizations, and scheduling.
In the center of the building is the Disability Resource Center (also known as the DRC). The DRC works with students with disabilities, including mental and chronic health conditions as well as temporary injuries. The DRC team identifies barriers in the campus environment and creates a plan of reasonable accommodations that removes those barriers.
On the second floor, we have the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships which supports our students and families by administering federal, state, external, and institutional financial aid and scholarships.
Moving toward the top floor, we have the Office of International Services where they support our large international student population with visas and transitioning into life in the United States.
Near the vending machines, we have the TRIO office. TRIO is a federal program that supports students who are considered low-income, first-generation, and individuals with disabilities with their educational plans from high school to graduate school.
Finally, we have the Academic Center of Excellence also known as ACE. The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) empowers students to realize their goals through academic development/tutoring, peer success tutoring, and workshops.
While I know this is a lot of information to remember, do not worry! If you have a chance, feel free to stop by one of these offices so you can learn all about their commitment to student success!
