Many UIC students are pursuing degrees in science and engineering and our Science and Engineering Labs are staples of the campus!
The Science and Engineering Laboratories were famously known by Walter Netsch as “a city underneath a roof”! The blueprints for “Star Wars” Death Star were created at the UIC Electronic Visualization Lab!
Across the street on Taylor Street is the Engineering Innovation Building. The Engineering Innovation Building is a new facility that contains research laboratories, classrooms, and office spaces for the engineering departments.
To support our students through their math and science courses, we offer free tutoring! The Math Science Learning Center (MSLC) provides academic support for a variety of STEM courses including biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and others.
We love innovation at UIC and you can see research right before your eyes on our campus!
A fun fact about the Science and Engineering Labs is actually a little known secret: it has my favorite view of campus! I definitely recommend climbing up the stairs or taking the elevator up to the 4th floor, where you can access the outdoor walkways between the East and West sides of the building. The two walkways have really pretty views of UIC’s campus due to the building’s height. I can say it is really funny to see everyone walking below since they look so tiny!
