Welch House - 25 East Main Street
A fine example of Georgian architecture, this once was the home of J.B. Welch, who came to Angelica in 1835 to serve as postmaster. It is apparent from the cellar that this is a house built around a house. Woodwork and some fireplaces have been preserved. The cupola was removed. It is rumored that while the GOP was forming and holding meetings in Angelica, several prominent and influential people of the era stayed at the house, such as Horace Greeley. Currently, the residence serves as an apartment building.
