Hartshorn House

Hartshorn House - 4 West Main

Begun in 1849 by Theodore Haight, a tailor, and sold unfinished to the Hartshorns in 1850. The front part stands essentially as built. Original moldings and details are characteristic of the height of Classical Revival architecture of this area. Nelson Spencer, the local History teacher from the 50’s through the 70’s, inherited the house and it became known as the Spencer House. More recently, it housed The Magnolia House, an event venue and catering business. It is presently a privately-owned home.
