Van Wickle House - 30 East Main Street
Set far back from the street is Evert Van Wickle’s home, built in 1802. Van Wickle was land agent for the Church family, the founding family of Angelica. This is considered the oldest framed structure in Allegany County as well as East of Bath, NY. The house contains five fireplaces, interesting colonial glass window panes, and tumble latches on the doors. A log cabin near the street served as the land agent’s office. The first county court, first Presbyterian meeting, and first Masonic meeting were all held in this house.
