This unique specimen is the Ginkgo tree, also known as Ginkgo biloba. You might notice a powerful odor if the tree is female, which originates from their seeds. Classified as a large tree, the Ginkgo tree can reach heights of 50 to 80 feet tall and live for quite some time, some specimens claiming 2,500 years of age. In the fall, the Ginkgo has a very noticeable display where all of its leaves drop at once after turning a vibrant yellow hue. The leaves are small and fan-shaped, which is a very helpful characteristic when identifying a Ginkgo tree. If you look closely, you'll see the bark of this tree is gray and has shallow fissures.
