Neal's tile and brickyard was located on the south side of Hellen Street, between Adelaide and Bay Street. Bricks had been manufactured in Seeley's Bay since 1864. In the early 1880s Thomas Moore opened a brickyard which operated until 1896 when it was sold to the Neal brothers of Athens who began to manufacture clay drainage tiles as well as bricks. Clay was dug from a knoll west of the brickyard. So much clay was removed, that in place of the knoll, a large shallow pit is still visible behind the houses on the south side of Hellen Street. Bricks and tile from this yard supplied materials for many buildings in the area and were shipped via the canal to other larger centres. The account book for this business is in the township archives. In 1910, Albert Neal opened a brickyard in Gananoque and sold the property in Seeley's Bay.
