Ashley

Saint George’s Chapel

The white marble memorial is to Maud Ashley of Broadlands, who died at the age of 30. She had two young daughters: to the right Mary Ashley and to the left Edwina Ashley, who later married Earl Mountbatten and became Countess Mountbatten.

'Christus Rex' (Christ the King) is another statue by Peter Eugene Ball. It was installed here in 2013.

The window above shows Saint Michael fighting a dragon. Notice the beautiful peacock feathers.

Below this are a selection of medieval floor tiles from the 13th and 14th centuries. Look at the different patterns and try to find the knights on horseback.

Now turn left (west) into the North Choir Aisle.
