Formerly the office for the McClenahan Quarry, this building has a wood frame atop a granite foundation.
On the street level, a window with horizontal granite bars served as the spot workers would come to pick up the paychecks at the end of the week. The company vault with 24 inch thick walls is still inside.
The building was turned into a home in 1915 and still contains a handsome Port Deposit granite fireplace with a polished granite mantle. The stairway is of Georgia heart pine and the stair rails are hand carved.
Grace Humphries, the founder of the Port Deposit Heritage Corporation (who put this tour together) once lived here, and those who moved in after her added central air conditioning around 1976.
