Welcome to the Gusher Gazette Newspaper office.
The first story written about the discovery of oil in East Texas was typed by Garland A. Farmer, publisher of the Henderson Times, on the old typewriter on the desk.
The type was set on the Linotype machine, and the paper was printed on the old Babcock press in the rear of the room. An original front page of that paper is on display at the front of the wall rack of papers. You will see Mr. Farmer's name on the Dallas Morning News stories; Farmer served as a "stringer" for city newspapers, and they paid him as a correspondent when they used his work.
Please take a copy of the Gusher Gazette Newspaper as a souvenir. It's a great read with lots of history about the East Texas Oil Boom!
