PEOPLE OF EAST TEXAS:
This display shows what the people were doing in 1930.
Herbert Hoover (photograph at the top of the display) was serving the country as President of the United States.
The Madewell Camp picture (on left) shows typical living conditions for many people who came to East Texas.
The Gladewater Jail (on right) was in a log house. The local men's lodge met on the second floor.
Men working on the oil rigs, social functions after the discovery (ladies in a colonial dress), and Tyler's first Rose Parade float are other examples of what people were doing.
In a small glass case is interesting memorabilia concerning the Western Union messengers and the oath of safety they took.
