This statue stands at 8 feet tall. It weighs about 1500 pounds. The sculptors were Mr. & Mrs. Alex Ettie of New York.
Mr. Hunt was very instrumental in the development of the East Texas Oil Field. Mr. Hunt was the largest independent operator in the East Texas field and ranked tenth in total production. His East Texas holdings were the cornerstone on which he built his financial empire.
The second photo is of the Hunt Production Company offices in the 1930s. It was located in Wright City, Texas.
The position of the statue within the museum allows him to greet every guest who visits. The museum building was donated to Kilgore College by the Placid Oil Company, which was one of his businesses. The contents of the museum were largely donated by citizens of East Texas.
