These are the nine most common formations where oil can be found. The East Texas Oil Field is the large center one. It's called a pinch-out formation because the oil gets pinched between two rock layers.
The East Texas Oil Field is a water-driven field as the water floats the oil up and into the trap. Oil is trapped in the East Texas Oil Field in what is known as the Woodbine Sand.
