Blue room 1997

The Blue Room

The Blue Room would have been another guest bedroom in the Morgan’s day. There is currently an exhibit of pressed butterflies -- and they add quite a nice touch to the room. Butterfly collecting was a popular Victorian hobby for all people as an effort to bring elements from nature inside -- similar to the idea of glass domes with flowers, seashells, and taxidermied small animals.

Most likely Junius, the son of Sarah and George Morgan, and his wife, Josephine, used this room when visiting Ventfort Hall.

The Blue Room is directly above the Dining Room downstairs, where the floor had collapsed down to the basement. Think back to the photos we saw when we were in the dining room of what the view looked like from there. The fireplace in this room had collapsed and was falling through to the basement here. The room has currently been restored, although still suffers a leak when it rains.
