Mr. George Hale Morgan's Bedroom

This bedroom is furnished with a dining room exhibit to display items from the Foster family collection, which is on loan to us. The Foster family was also in the Lenox area during the Gilded Age period. They owned the estate known as Bellefontaine, which is now used as Canyon Ranch, which is a spa and wellness resort. Note the photograph of the actual dining room from Bellefontaine on the wall which was set for Mr. Foster's birthday party in the 1920s.

However, there would not have been a dining room on the second floor of Ventfort Hall; this was, in fact, George Morgan’s bedroom -- he and Sarah each had their own rooms, a his and hers style setup.

The collection seen in the former Lilac Bathroom now consists of handmade Venetian glass by Salviati, Tiffany silver, and French plateware (all from the Foster collection).

All of the paintings in the Lilac Room and adjacent bathroom are from the Foster family collection and are of their relatives.

To enter Sarah's room, go through the door in the left corner of the room. This will bring you through a small dressing closet, where small items such as hats, jewels, and gloves could have been stored. There was a small safe for personal items of value in this closet as well.
