The Long Hall Introduction

An example of the Beaux Arts Classical architectural style, the vantage point of viewing from the fireplace in the Great Hall impresses the visitor with the length of the house. The ceiling also assists in elongating the house. Each of the plaster ceiling panels are different lengths (shortest closest to the fireplacein the Great Hall and longest closest to the Billiard Room) so no matter which way you look, the hall seems longer than it actually is. The ceiling is Scottish style plaster ceiling, partially restored and partially original (the lighter plaster is new and restored while the darker is the original).
