Hello. This is Chloe Wilwerding. I am a mixed-media artist living and working in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The drawing included in Big Draw Colorado is called Street View. Home View. Heart View II. The piece is colored pencil on sheets of graph paper. I tiled the individual sheets of graph paper together to make this large-scale drawing.
Street View. Home View. Heart View. is an in-progress series of drawings that explores how digital spaces reconfigure our relationships to place, home, and each other. For this series, I used Google Earth images of the addresses of people I love. I drew these images as needlepoint patterns on graph paper. The drawings connect pixels and stitches, digital space and domestic space. Through this project, I hope to address competing feelings of connectedness and isolation in a digital age.
