Lauren Pelc-McArthur's creative process begins with a mental representation of thousands of images seen over time. Inspired by a surrealist approach, her process evolves through the application of oil paint, giving each canvas depth and texture. Her works shift between biomorphism and abstraction, creating organic and enigmatic compositions like Giant's Hinge and Duo Sifter Snap.
Originally from Toronto, Ontario, and now based in Montreal, Quebec, Pelc-McArthur holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the Ontario College of Art and Design and a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. Her work has been featured in residencies and exhibitions in the Netherlands, Spain, and the United States. In 2018, she was nominated for the RBC Painting Prize, and in 2019, she received the prestigious Nancy Petry Foundation Award.
