Inner Courtyard
La Monarque is a striking light sculpture imagined and created by LUCION, a Montreal-based multimedia studio known for its immersive artistic experiences, and produced by LNDMRK. Installed in the hotel’s interior courtyard garden, this metallic sculpture composed of five flowers and three buds transforms the space into a place of contemplation and discovery.
By day, it captivates with its refined design and delicate structure; by night, its illuminated core comes alive, casting poetic shadow plays that reveal the full beauty of the piece.
Rooted in a simple yet evocative idea, La Monarque explores the wonder of early sensory discoveries : watching a shadow move, following it, and marveling at its quiet magic.
« The shadow cast on the ground is one of our first cognitive experiences in childhood.
A flower that creates shadows pays poetic tribute to the creative spirit that lives in every child, and in all of us. It is a source of inspiration that invites us to keep dreaming.»
— Bernard Duguay, Founder of LUCION
Its petals and central bud filter natural light by day and artificial light by night. Over time, these beams sculpt geometric and floral motifs across the ground and structure, giving the work a living presence that shifts and transforms throughout the hours.
