Known for her bold style and vibrant colors, Corno draws inspiration from the pop art movement with a focus on dynamic depictions of faces and figures that radiate sensual energy. Her neo-expressionist approach blends abstraction and figuration, creating powerful works where color, texture, and movement collide. "Visage rouge sur fond rouge" embodies the intensity and emotional depth she brought to her art.
Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, in 1952, Corno (Joanne Corneau) studied fine arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal. By the late 1980s, she had gained widespread recognition among collectors in Montreal, with her work becoming highly sought-after. Her success quickly expanded beyond Quebec, with exhibitions in major Canadian cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, and Vancouver.
She first conquered the American art market before achieving international acclaim, exhibiting her works in cities such as New York, London, Paris, Venice, Monaco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, and Dubai. With growing demand for her art, she held both group and solo exhibitions worldwide.
Corno passed away in 2016 at age 64, leaving behind a lasting and vibrant artistic legacy.
