Today the Sorg hosts a variety of concerts and theater productions, as well as community events and private rentals. Besides efforts I have already mentioned, future theater improvements that the SORG group is already working on include reopening the upper balcony; completing roof repairs so that the theater’s upper walls and ceilings can be repainted; and improving the heating system. In the long term, the SORG group will renovate and reopen space in the Commercial Building, starting with the two storefronts on either side of the theater entrance facing Main Street, as well as the upstairs ballroom. In addition to grants and donations, you are supporting these ongoing efforts every time you purchase a ticket to a Sorg event.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of the Sorg Opera House and a look into its past as well as its future. I’ve been your tour guide, Andy Seibert. Before we finish, here’s Nancy Griffith, our president, to wrap things up.
